The new axles are on. You can read the entire story here in this thread on the Airstream Forums. Yes, there is an entire sub-sub forum devoted to nothing but axles. Because although our beloved ’68 Overlander is still on the road, as is right and meet, every now and then she does need the odd replacement part. Happy New Year, faithful camper.
Hopefully we’ll get 42 years out of this new pair of axles. In which case some other person will get to write the next replacement account.
(Yes. Someone else. Because all the 80-somethings at the Cove have the sense to own newer-model campers. We are still young and foolish and have not yet put the offspring through college.)
